Jeff is an incredible boy!!! He is five
years old now and enjoys each day and encounter to the
fullest. His courage knows no limits. Although I
am sure he realizes he can no longer do some of the normal
everyday things a dog likes to do, the way he used to, he
forges ahead with gusto and determination to do what he is
able to do.
A year and a half ago he awoke during the
night paralyzed in his crate. He had a ruptured C6, C7
disc which is at the base of his neck. Spinal surgery,
massive physical therapy and acupuncture has allowed him to
move again. Daily he chases a tennis ball and romps
across the yard like a deer and can retrieve the tennis ball
on the move.
During his physical therapy he has learned to
do lots of "tricks" no one else in our house has done.
He loves to learn and be rewarded for his effort with praise
and love. I have worked with, trained, and competed
with obedience dogs for over thirty years and I believe he
has taught me more than any other animal I have ever worked
with. It is amazing what this furry loving boy has
done and can do. It is truly a lesson to learn and
observe for all of us. Although he cannot participate
in shows and agility trials because of a noticeable limp, he
attends them and lives and loves each day to the fullest.
He is truly a shining light on our daily path.
Sincerely, Pam
